massold clay canyons

The Massold Clay Canyons showcase a stunning prairie landscape. Explore scenic trails that wind through clay formations, rolling hills, and native grasslands. The area is home to a rich variety of prairie flora, including wildflowers and grasses unique to this ecosystem, as well as wildlife such as deer, foxes, birds of prey, and songbirds. It’s a peaceful retreat for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone interested in the natural and industrial history of the prairies.

history of the site

Nestled at the foot of the Dirt Hills in southern Saskatchewan, the Claybank Brick Plant offers a rare glimpse into Canada’s industrial past. This remarkably preserved site operated from 1914 to 1989, producing high-quality firebrick and face brick used across North America. Visitors can explore the surrounding clay pits, walk the interpretive story, and discover the history of the people, technology, and natural resources that shaped the site.
